The area of activities and the main goal of the legal protection projects is a direct protection of human rights, rendering a legal help, advices and information to all citizens who need help (regardless of national affiliation) to acquaint them with the legal presumption for solving problems and to initiate appropriate proceedings before the state, government and courts institutions, in different cases: citizenship, returning of refugees and displaced people to Croatia, property protection, restitution, problems concerning social and economic sphere, pension disability insurance, deportation, missing people, humanitarian and social aid etc.

Provision of legal assistance for citizens includes as follows: interviews, skilled and legal instructions, making letters (such as claims, requests, interventions), court proceedings with the Court of First Instance, administrative proceedings with the competent bodies and legal persons. The implementation of this project includes also keeping detailed records/files and computer date/bases on all the users, as well as reporting on the project. 

Performing in Rijeka, a city with a long tradition of multiethnicism and multiculturalism, where members of 12 ethnic communities live and work, the SCR has always dedicated special attention to maintaining inter-ethnic communication and activity in the realm of reconciliation and building of a tolerant and multiethnic society and re-establishment and restitution of dialogs between the different ethnic and religious communities, and against hate speech and prejudices. Within those aims the SCR often appears as organizer of open-public meetings, and has also set up successful cooperation with the local authority of Rijeka and Primorsko-Goranska County and with other national communities in Rijeka. The SCR has supported and participated in the campaigns of other NGOs.
